Welcome!
A Bit About Us
We are a community nestled in the hillsides of Northeastern Vermont consisting of more than 50 students and 20 staff -- including eight full-time staff, four part-time staff and eight specialists one or two days each per week. We value and respect the diverse nature of each individual student and work collaboratively to help meet all students' social, emotional and academic needs. Please check back regularly to keep an eye on what we're doing here at WES!

At the 2009 Woodbury Town Meeting, voters unanimously approved the appropriation of $7,500 to hire a consultant to prepare a study report for the Select Board that analyzes and justifies all economical options to educate Woodbury K-6 students. The Woodbury Select Board then charged the School Study Committee to work with a consultant to research how education services might be delivered in a more cost-effective manner and to communicate to citizens the benefits and challenges of the many available school options.

In an interview with VPR after a recent visit to Woodbury Elementary School, Willem Lange had this to say:
"I've never walked into a small school without feeling energy emanating from the place like warmth from a space heater. It's noisy, but it's happy noise. And if someone raises two fingers in a V, everybody raises his own arm, closes his mouth, and looks to see who wants to make an announcement. There's an important difference - and a message - between being silenced by an authority figure and cooperating in creating your own chance to listen."
