Dear Parents and Guardians of 3rd and 4th Graders,

It’s back to school time! I’m excited for the upcoming year and hope your child is too. Working together we can all make this a productive, enjoyable experience.

For your part, it is important that you are involved with your child’s education. Most importantly, this means open communication between home and school. As the school year proceeds, please do not hesitate to contact me as questions or concerns arise. You can email me at dswanson@ossu.org or call the school at 472-5715 and leave a voicemail message for me.

The first weeks of the school year will focus mainly on developing our classroom community and establishing classroom/school expectations. This is important so that everyone knows how to be successful both academically and behaviorally and helps create a safe environment where students can focus on their learning. As our community develops and students are familiarized with expectations, we will begin to switch to a focus on academics.

Your child will be receiving homework this school year, however, this will not begin immediately. You should expect to receive correspondence from me in the coming weeks, before homework begins to be assigned. This will outline the expectations surrounding homework, so that you and your child’s understandings about homework do not conflict and provide for a positive experience.

Once again, please stay in contact with me about you child’s school experience. This feedback is important to keeping school a positive experience for all.
